A Splash of Joy: Holi Celebrations at TARA

Photo of the Holi celebration: The first three are TARA Tots with the staffs, the last photo is of TARA Boys, TARA Girls, TARA Big Birds at Lodhi Garden.

The TARA community came together in the spirit of Holi this March. In every home, laughter, music and colour brought people closer together.

At S Block Park in Greater Kailash 2, our youngest TARA Tots played with organic colours, danced to music and shared sweets under the spring sun. Their joy lit up the day.

Meanwhile, TARA Girls, Boys and Big Birds gathered with staff and sponsors in Lodhi Garden for a beautiful celebration of colour, unity and love. Seeing children, youth and adults playing together and sharing the spirit of Holi was truly heartwarming!

🎉 Celebrating 6 Years of TOC – Saidulajab 🎉

On 27 March 2025, we joyfully celebrated the 6th anniversary of the TARA Outreach Centre (TOC) in Saidulajab, a heartfelt milestone in our ongoing journey of empowerment, education and care.

The event brought together children, families, staff and supporters to celebrate six years of impactful work in the community. We were deeply honoured to be joined by Ms. Vaishali Deshpande, one of TARA's dedicated trustees, whose presence added warmth and meaning to the celebration. Her kind words of encouragement reminded us of the importance of perseverance, community spirit and believing in the potential of every child.

The celebration was marked by energetic performances, heartfelt reflections and many joyful moments - each a testament to the dedication and care that has made TOC the nurturing place it is today. Over the years, a wide range of initiatives - from hands-on learning and creative exploration to family engagement and outreach - have helped to strengthen our impact and deepen our connection with the community.

We would like to thank everyone who has been a part of TOC's journey, our incredible team, the resilient families we work with and especially our sponsors, supporters and well-wishers. Your continued belief in our mission fuels the hope and progress we see every day!

New Leadership Roles at TARA
Left to Right: Ms. Olivia sunny , Mr. Nitin Sharma

We have some wonderful news to share about internal growth and leadership within our organisation. At TARA, we believe strongly in developing the potential of our team and giving them the opportunity to grow and lead.

Ms Olivia Sunny has been promoted to the role of Head of Residential Homes. Previously the Program Manager for TARA Girls, Olivia will now oversee all three of our residential homes, as well as the aftercare program. Since joining TARA in 2018, Olivia has been a driving force behind the stability and growth of TARA Girls, and her impact extends far beyond. Her dedication, compassionate leadership and deep understanding of children's needs make her an exceptional fit for this important role.

Mr Nitin Sharma has taken up the position of Deputy Director. Having served as Admin and HR Lead, Nitin will now oversee all departments and operations across TARA. A true pillar of strength for over 10 years, Nitin has consistently embodied integrity, reliability and commitment, ensuring that TARA continues to move forward with clarity and excellence.

Several other members of the team have also been promoted this year in recognition of their enthusiasm, talent and contribution to TARA's mission. We are extremely proud of our team and the positive energy they bring to the organisation every day.

We are excited about these changes and are confident that they will help TARA continue to grow and thrive - with your support, of course!

UK Friends of TARA: A New Chapter of Support from the UK

At TARA, we are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated sponsors who truly believe in our mission. Their ongoing commitment is a cornerstone of our work - and now they've taken a significant new step to strengthen their support even further.

A group of long-standing supporters in the UK have come together to form a new charitable structure: UK Friends of TARA (UKFT). This exciting development marks the transition of ONYVA UK into a dedicated organisation focused entirely on supporting TARA's mission from the UK.

What is UKFT?
UK Friends of TARA (UKFT) is being established with the primary goal of raising funds for TARA from within the UK. While UKFT is currently in the process of seeking registration with the Charity Commission and/or HMRC, we are hopeful that this will soon enable us to benefit from Gift Aid, a scheme that will enhance the impact of donations at no additional cost to donors.

What we’ve set up so far ?

A new bank account has been opened under the name UK Friends of TARA. UKFT is currently governed by a dedicated board of trustees:

Left to Right: Mr. Richard Pearce – Chairperson, Ms. Pragya Mohan – Secretary, Ms. Elizabeth Allam – Treasurer.

If you're currently sponsoring us from the UK and haven’t made the switch yet, please contact Zhovino at give@taraindia.org—we’ll be happy to guide you through the process.

Join us in London!
We’ll be hosting a formal introduction of UKFT in September in London, alongside a special screening of The Undefeated. We’d love for you to join us, meet the team, and learn more about how UKFT will support TARA’s future. Stay tuned for the exact date and further details.

We’re truly grateful for the dedication and initiative of our UK sponsors.

Thank you for being part of the TARA family. Together, we’re building brighter futures.
