100% success rate for exams in 2023!
This year, all the children from TARA Boys, TARA Girls and TARA Big Birds in class 10th and 12th did exceedingly well for their end-of-year exams with results ranging from 69.2% to 91.2%.
These results are due to the positive impact of the many TARA programs which provide the children with a nurturing, family-like environment and the opportunity to become independent adults through education. The entire team at TARA is proud of these achievements and we would like to thank all our sponsors, donors and well-wishers who have enabled us to ensure a quality education to the children who are placed under our care.

TARA Big Birds on the road to independence!
"Three things can help people: Love, care, and time." These touching words came from Arun when he celebrated his last day in TARA Boys. Arun and Manoj have recently joined TARA Big Birds, our program that provides assistance to young adults as they embark on a journey toward becoming self-independent
The boys and girls join TARA Big Birds at the age of 18. The programme is designed to foster greater independence in their studies and introduce them to professional training and working life. We work closely with the young adults, helping them with skills such as time management, personal finance as well as managing professional and personal relationships.

There are currently six boys in the program who have done us proud. All six have secured a profession in their field of interest and also wish to pursue higher education simultaneously.
Shyamu, the eldest, is in the third year of one of the best design schools in India. He has just secured a scholarship to study in France for a semester. Lokesh works for a hotel chain while Arun and Sameer are trainers in a social enterprise working for social inclusion. Sameer has also been hired by an organization that nurtures reading among children. As for Manoj, he has obtained a job in a production house company. Sharwan, a sports enthusiast, applied for an part time opportunity with a well-known sports equipment company and he is hopeful to be selected.
What a long way they have come since they arrived at TARA! Their success has been made possible thanks to a team of dedicated professionals and the sponsors and well-wishers who have been by their side all these years. They are very grateful and so are we!

We’re turning 15 soon!
TARA will soon be celebrating its 15th anniversary. We are very excited and impatient to share this special moment with the children, staff members, supporters and friends who will be in Delhi during this time.
Setting up a home for children from scratch seemed like a crazy gamble at the time, yet look how far we've come! We are looking forward to many new projects, but before that, let’s celebrate these past 15 years of hard work!
We are confident that this anniversary marks the beginning of even more fruitful years, where we will continue to make a real difference to the lives of children and families who need it most.
Thank you for helping us grow!
Take part in this memorable celebration, even from a distance! 🎉🎈 Can't be in Delhi for the 15th anniversary celebration? Join the festivities by sending a video wishing TARA a happy anniversary before 15th August to give@taraindia.org.

TARA Training Centre, improving skills for child protection |
At TARA, we give great importance to staff training. Since 2017, the TARA Training Centre (TTC), has been providing regular, ongoing training to our staff in areas such as legislation on children's rights, organizational skills, safety, etc.
Recently, the Guardian of Dreams, a non-profit based in Bangalore that works for child protection and education, sought our expertise to share our best practices. This was the start of a pilot project that includes six other homes in south India. The first workshop was conducted in May and was hosted by Basanti, our Executive Director.
The main objective of this project is to outline best practices in this area and boost the skills of everyone involved. We also plan to create a manual which will establish high standards for child protection in India.
For TARA, this pilot project goes beyond the framework of our organization. We believe that we should play a part in actively contributing to the overall performance of the child protection sector. |
